About

One of my shelfs in my garage with some of my tapes, including Dave Edmunds and Built To Spill.

This music blog is for people who like listening to and/or collecting cassette tapes – with the occasional post about physical media.

We are a different kind of nerd that likes to hold things in our hands and press a play button that clicks instead of smudges.

I have always wanted to be a music blogger, so I am doing it through my love of tapes.

“Why not records?” you might ask. Well, tapes are more convenient. They look cooler stacked (while taking up less space) and are portable. The sound can be pretty damn good – if you have a good tape player.

And tapes feel good in your hands. Records seem like more work too.

Tapes rule. Music blogs rule. Physical media rules. That is why I am here.

P.S. If you are a band or label and would like to see your tape on this blog, read my contact page.

P.S.S. Some of my favorite affiliates of The Tape Player, that, if you enjoy writing or being creative, you might also like:

  • Keysearch – A very affordable way I do keyword research for the blog.
  • Make.com – I am learning how to engineer some things to add to this blog and you can try it too.
  • Amazon – To be real, it’s the only one of my affiliates that has made me useable money. Love Bezos or not, it’s just how it is.
  • Skillshare – Great courses for creatives or wannabes.
  • AppSumo – A bunch of cool and useful software and courses you can buy.
  • Blinkist – Much like Audible but with a self-improvement vibe.
  • Audible – Much like Blinkist but with a Jeff Bezos vibe.
